oftware Engineer in Test to improve "Testing"\nHiroyuki Ito (LINE Corpora
tion\, DSE Center SET\, @hageyahhoo)\nWhen introducing improvement activi
ties to your team\, like Test Automation\, you will face challenges. Some
members and/or teams may oppose your activities. You may find that no on
e uses tools or solutions you introduced. You may face a shortage of memb
ers who have enough skills and knowledge.\nAs an SET (Software Engineer i
n Test)\, I faced a lot of challenges and failures. No clear goals. Disse
nsion among developers\, testers\, and managers. Negative feedback to my/
our solutions... However\, I could overcome them and finally achieved som
ething great!\nWe can change difficulties into something special with pro
per approaches!\nIn this talk\, I will tell you the following practical i
deas and solutions which relate to testing I found through my experience
as SET from Scratch:\n1) Importance and how to get support and understand
ing from decision-makers and colleagues\nThey are critical to proceed wit
 h test-related improvement activities. I will explain useful techniques\;
"Product Discovery" to discover their real concerns\, and "Giving impact
s" to attract them.\n2) Experiencing hardships with product development t
eams together is a key to proceed with activities\nWe learned that we cou
ld provide innovative ideas and solutions by working closely with product
development teams. I will explain it through our experience of inventing
and improving our failure detection system with "Karate" framework\, an
open-sourced API Testing framework in which we can write test scripts wit
 h BDD (Behavior-Driven Development) style.\n3) How to nurture members/tea
ms/organizations for your innovative activities\nInnovative activities re
quire proper skills\, knowledge\, persons\, and so on. I will tell you "L
 earning Session"\, a way to nurture members\, teams\, and organizations s
moothly and quickly. Additionally\, I will explain "Sebas Report"\, our i
nnovative solution example to tame the complexity of Microservices and re
duce their outages incubated from "Learning Session".\nI have been sharin
g these my improvement ideas over 10 times with our company members. Afte
r that\, some teams convinced themselves with my ideas and started utiliz
ing them. One team solved its slow test problems on their own. Another te
am invented a new test infrastructure which made testing easier.\nI hope
these ideas will help innovate your testing activities!\nReduce flaky tes
t cases with Gradle retry plugin and Allure report\nElena Alejo (LINE Cor
poration\, DSE Center SET) \nAt LINE we love testing\, for that reason at
LINE-Shop team\, we have more than 11.000 test cases.\nHaving this amoun
t of test cases\, increase the probabilities of having flaky test cases.
So as result\, during our continues integration cycle our builds can end
up broken due a false failed test cases!\nDuring this talk\, I will share
