 8?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=ics&utm_campaign=ics\n\nJoin us for Toky
oDev Talks\, where we have presentations that cut across the stack from e
ngineers working at some of the most interesting tech companies in Japan.
\n\nNote that attendance for this event is limited to software developers
\, those aspiring to become one\, or working in an adjacent position (e.g
 . Product Managers\, UI/UX Designers\, Security Engineers\, QA Engineers\
, etc). If you're unsure whether you're qualified to attend\, please get
in touch.\n\nThis event is being held at Tokyo Innovation Base (TiB). Whe
n attending it\, you'll also need to complete the free registration proce
ss with TiB if you have not already done so. You are strongly encouraged
to complete this in advance\, as otherwise you'll need to complete it on
 site before you're allowed into the venue.\n\nAgenda\n\n18:30 〜 19:00 D
oors open\n\nEnjoy talking with the other participants before the present
ations begin. Drinks and a light meal will be provided by TokyoDev.\n\n19
:00 〜 19:05 Opening - Paul McMahon \n\nWe'll kick things off by welcomi
ng everyone and giving a short introduction of the event.\n\n19:05 〜 19
:30 The Productivity Tradeoffs of Onboarding in a New Language with AI
 — Paulo D'Alberti\n\nFor most of my career\, I've used Ruby as my prima
ry programming language. But when I joined Kraken six months ago\, I had
to switch to Python—a language I had no experience with. Rather than st
udying the language first\, I dove in immediately\, relying heavily on LL
Ms that allowed me to be productive from day one. But was that a good ide
a? In this presentation\, I'll reflect on that decision and share the les
sons I learned along the way.\n\nPaulo D'Alberti (Software Engineer at Kr
aken)\n\nPaulo is a backend developer\, and an active member of various t
ech communities both online and offline. Outside of tech\, he’s passion
ate about the colour orange\, and European medieval martial arts - where
he dons functional replicas of historical armour and fights with rattan a
nd steel weapons\n\n19:40 〜 20:05 Agentic Prompt and Context Engineeri
ng: Let the LLM Write the Prompts — Andrew Daley \n\nAs nearly every co
mpany in the world begins to integrate AI into their business\, and as we
all grow accustomed to constantly prompting LLMs\, the cutting edge is m
oving past the manual prompting of LLMs and can now automate and optimize
the prompting step itself.\n\nIn this talk\, we examine two new approach
es out of Stanford in the past couple years\, DSPy and ACE. These tools a
llow us to create self-improving\, self-prompting AI programs so that we
can treat prompts less like strings\, and more like we do code. Parameter
ized classes and modules. Version control and optimization. Portability a
cross vendors. These are all core software development principles any eng
ineer understands the value of\, now just a few lines of Python away.\n\n
No more massive walls of text. No more "prompt engineering". Just define
your task and goal\, and let the LLM prompt and optimize itself. \n\nAn
drew Daley (Applied AI Product Manager at Yoii)\n\nAndrew started his car
eer in Texas doing recruiting and sales\, but pivoted to Data Science and
completed his Master's in Analytics at Georgia Tech University. After ti
me as a Data Scientist and General Manager in the Tokyo EdTech industry\,
he now works as an Applied AI Product Manager at Yoii\, a startup growth
capital firm in Tokyo providing non-traditional financing to other start
ups with the goal of increasing startup liquidity in our market. \n\n20:0
5 〜 20:45 Open Networking\n\nDiscuss the presentation or anything else
with the other attendees.\n\nWant to speak at a future event?\n\nWe're lo
oking for speakers. You can find more details and submit a proposal here.
\n\nAbout TokyoDev\n\nTokyoDev's job board is filled with software develo
per positions at Japanese companies whose engineering team’s primary la
