Everyone has a story to share. In this special discussion group, we’re inviting design researchers and people interested in design research to tell their own stories of how they got into their field and best practices in design research. It will be an interactive session and will cover questions like:

How did you find yourself in the field of design research/what got you interested in design research?
What have been your unique challenges in doing design research? Learning design research?
What are your “go-to” tools for user validation on web? On mobile?
What are your current struggles with “selling” design research or user testing in your organization? How have you tried to solve them?

全ての人は共有するお話を持っていると思います。この特別なディスカッショングループでは、デザインリサーチャーやリサーチに興味のある人々を招いて、その物語をデザインリサーチの手法を用いて深掘りしていきます。このセッションは下記のよう課題を対話式で解いていきます。

デザインリサーチの中でどのように自身を導き出すか？また、なぜデザインリサーチに興味を持っているのか？
どのようなユニークな試みをデザインリサーチで行ってきたか？
UXリサーチを行う時にどのようなツールや手法を活用していますか?
デザインリサーチのソリューションをクライアントや組織に提供する際に直面した課題や、行った解決方法はどんなものだったか？

This session is welcome to experts and beginners alike to share their challenges and advice. We aim to make our sessions English and Japanese friendly, so slides will be in both English and Japanese.

このセッションは初心者から専門家まで全ての人を招いてチャレンジしたことを共有し、アドバイスを互いにしていくものです。また、対話やスライドも英語・日本語両方で行っていきますのでどなたでも参加歓迎です。

Talk | トーク

We will start with a short introduction on design research by Chelsea Hostetter, a Design Researcher and UX Designer at yamaneco, a DevOps, Agile and design coaching firm in Tokyo. Chelsea has been doing design for six years—first as a UI engineer, then as an interaction designer, then as a design researcher and UX designer. Her clients include local and global companies like Capital One, Samsung and FedEx. She loves building fascinating and usable systems for people.

本セッションではChelsea Hostetterがファシリテーターを務めます。彼女はUIエンジニア、インタラクションデザイナーを経験したのちデザインリサーチャー・UXデザイナーになりデザイン業界では6年間経験を有しております。現在はYamaneco, a DevOps, Agile and design coaching firmなどでCapital One, Samsung and FedExグローバルクライアントのためにデザインリサーチとして活躍しています。
