In 2020 the world became disconnected so small activities like going to the movie theater and watching a film with friends became impossible. At the same time, the world became a lot smaller as interacting with friends and family in other countries became as accessible as those down the street. We had to relearn how to do everyday activities like watching movies together.

In this workshop, we'll learn to build a real-time movie-watching application using the Vonage Video API and our favorite framework Ruby on Rails! The app will allow a moderator to invite participants with a password, talk and chat in a party lobby, and then when the video is playing enter a special view that disables talking while the movie playing is synced across all the party participants!

About the speaker

Benjamin Aronov is a Developer Community Manager at Vonage. This position affords his creative energy in both technical and interpersonal projects. Benjamin is a co-founder of the Israel.rb meetup group for Israeli based Ruby developers. Originally from Saint Louis, Benjamin moved to Tel Aviv in 2018 where he completed the Le Wagon Bootcamp and launched his programming career. On Saturdays he closes the laptop and sits on the beautiful Tel Aviv beach, preferably with a pita in hand.
