Agenda

19:00 〜 19:30 Doors open

Grab a drink and relax before the talks start.

19:30 〜 20:00 OTA firmware upgrades with a multiprocessor embedded system - Juha Lumme

Firmware upgrades of embedded devices are a mandatory feature in today's ever evolving cloud based services and of course because - no matter how much you test - eventually when deploying to the field you will find bugs. This talk will discuss some challenges we faced when designing an over-the-air multiprocessor upgrade mechanism for our own embedded devices, the advantages of the multiprocessor aspect, and some other general design decisions we made when implementing it.

Profile
Juha is an engineer with over a decade of experience in the telecommunications field in various roles. He has developed platform software for mobile phones, worked on the telecommunication networks side, and has a special passion for embedded systems. As TenTen's CTO, he currently leads the development of an IoT platform targeted at vending machines and other automated points of sale. When he's not in front of his computer, he enjoys playing squash and spending time with his family.

20:00 〜 20:15 Break

A quick break for some snacks and a chat!

20:15 〜 20:45 Fixing firmware bugs without fixing firmware bugs - Mahesh Baheti

Firmware bugs are very expensive to fix as they require considerable development, QA time as well as extra deployment cost. Although Over The Air updates can reduce the deployment cost, it is still more expensive than any other type of deployment such as server deployment. There are often other workarounds to circumvent firmware bugs depending on their severity. This talk tries to lay out some general guidelines to keep the show running by implementing workarounds without having to deploying a new version of firmware.

Profile
Mahesh works as a server side software engineer. He has helped developing an E-Commerce platform in the past, and currently helps build an IoT based customer loyalty platform. He loves dogs and enjoys riding his bike around town in his free time.

20:45 〜 21:30 Open Networking

Discuss the talks or anything else IoT related with the other attendants.

Venue sponsor

TenTen is building an IoT platform that seamlessly integrates with automated points of sale such as vending machines, coin operated washing machines or parking meters. We enable our customers to offer cashless payments, loyalty rewards and more to their users via our mobile application, and provide them with tools to analyze location sales, streamline inventory management and improve maintenance dispatch.

About the venue

  • The venue is on the top floor of a residential building, so there is no company sign downstairs. Ring for room number 301 and somebody will let you in.
  • Please be sure to be quiet in the lobby area to avoid disturbing residents.
