The Web is a material. As craftsmen, we mold it. It eventually gets a patina and becomes something to remember, personal, familiar. Wood, paper, clay have been practiced for centuries. We came to learn their properties, to intimately know their space and how they contribute to a legacy.

We will talk about the information materiality and its decay. We will then explore ways of improving its permanence and its transformation. We will discover practical tools and methods that you can use to manage the rust of the Web in the context of your websites. HTTP, URI, UX, licences are part of the tools in your craftsman workshop. The Web is your material, let's understand its aesthetics.

About the speaker

Karl Dubost is a Japan-based Senior Platform Engineer at Mozilla. Since the Web has been invented, he has been involved in using, creating and defining what the Web is.
Working at different browser companies and the World Wide Web consortium, he has pushed for a better Web for everyone on any device.
When he is not working, he is walking toward “every nowhere”.
