"Mini Tokyo 3D - Digital Twins for transportation & the world of digital transformation"

Mini Tokyo 3D is the grand award winner of last yearâs application competition âOpen Data Challenge for Public Transportation in Tokyoâ. I will talk about the development story of this application and the potential of digital twins.
I spoke about data science and data engineering in the very first, memorable meetup of this community, and itâs been 4 years since I moved to Singapore after that. I would also like to discuss the concept of data contextualization and digital transformation, including experiences in development overseas.

âOn the necessity and inapplicability of Python: Help us develop numerical softwareâ

Python is a popular scripting language adopted by numerical software vendors to help users solve challenging numerical problems. It provides easy-to-use interface and offers decent speed through array operations, but it is not suitable for engineering the low-level constructs. To make good numerical software, developers need to be familiar with C++ and computer architecture. The gap of understandings between the high-level applications and low-level implementation motivated me to organize a course to train computer scientists what it takes to build numerical software that the users (application experts) want. This talk will portray a bird view of the advantages and disadvantages of Python and where and how C++ should be used in the context of numerical software. The information may be used to map out a plan to acquire the necessary skill sets for making the software. In addition to the subject, the speaker will also spend a couple of minutes to share what the Python community does in Taiwan, and our practices during the pandemic.

"Scientific Digital Transformation"

Enthought collaborates with clients in their digital transformation initiatives to create possibilities that deliver orders of magnitude changes in expert efficiency and business impact. In this talk, we will cover 1) how we are pursuing digital transformation in scientific domains not limited in the United States but also in Japan, 2) how we are adapting to the ânewâ way of working under the global pandemic. Finally, a brief coverage of SciPy 2020 in Austin (Jul 6-12) and SciPy Japan 2020 (Oct 30 - Nov 1) will be presented.
