産総研 人工知能研究センター 国際シンポジウム

AIST Artificial Intelligence Research Center International Symposium

開催趣旨

テーマ："AI collaborating with Humans in the real world"
　　（実世界で人と協調するAI）

　人工知能技術は、これまで主に、インターネットサービスを通じて収集される膨大なデータや知識を利活用することで急速に発展してきました。しかし、今後は、各種のIoTデバイスやロボット技術とも連携して、実社会の様々な現場でのサービスや生活行動を通じて収集されるビッグデータを活用した人工知能技術によって、サービスの高度化や新たな価値創造を実現してゆくことが期待されています。
　産業技術総合研究所 人工知能研究センターでは、これら実世界で人間と相互理解し、協調して困難な課題を解決する次世代の人工知能技術の創出と社会実装を目指した研究開発を進めています。また、人工知能研究の国内拠点として海外の複数機関と強固な国際連携を進めています。
　このたび、これまでの取り組みを紹介するとともに、さらなる連携へと進むため、海外研究者を招き、海外における研究開発や社会実装の取り組み・方策・課題の情報を共有し発信することを目的として国際シンポジウムを開催いたします。
　
　Artificial intelligence technology is rapidly expanding mainly by utilizing the vast amount of data and knowledge collected through Internet services so far. However, from now on, we anticipate sophistication of services and new value creation enabled by AI technologies based on Big Data collected through various kinds of services and life activities in the real world, in concert with IOT device technologies and robot technologies.
　AI research center (AIRC) under AIST is developing innovative AI technologies which will solve difficult problems through collaborating with humans in the real world, and promoting their implementation in the real world.
　This international symposium will introduce our activities, and also promote intense discussion on AI social implementation and its future directions.

略歴：
1973年京都大学大学院修了。工学博士。京都大学助教授、1988年マンチェスター大学教授、1995年東京大学大学院教授、2011年マイクロソフト研究所アジア（北京）首席研究員等を経て現職。マンチェスター大学教授兼任。

「Artificial Intelligence & Digital Reality：Do we need a "CERN for AI" ?」
Profile, Career summary：
　Philipp Slusallek is Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), where he heads the research area "Agents and Simulated Reality" since 2008. He is also Director for Research at the "Intel Visual Computing Institute”, a central research institute at Saarland University founded in 2009 in collaboration with Intel, DFKI, and the two local Max-Planck-Institutes. At Saarland University he has been a professor for Computer Graphics since 1999 and a Principle Investigator at the German Excellence-Cluster on “Multimodal Computing and Interaction” since 2007.
　Before coming to Saarland University, he was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Stanford University, USA. He studied physics in Frankfurt and Tuebingen (Diploma/M.Sc.) and got his PhD in Computer Science from Erlangen University.
